Paladins: To l33t

So I started this paladin a bit ago, but never really got him past level 30, and after 3 days he's now 43! It's ridiculous how fast this paladin can level.

Here's a bit of Calculus level math for you all: I get 25% of a level per dungeon. So 4 dungeons is equal to a level! I get dungeons instantly thanks to being a tank, and each dungeon averages around 20 minutes. So I get a level every 80 minutes! How awesome is that!

Just kidding, thats not calculus. But anyway, it's great being a paladin. Plus I just recruited a friend, so lets see how that goes!

Playing Again?

So I started playing again and I don't know why. Honestly, I'm still sitting in org for 2 hours a day just talking to friends, but hey, isn't that what WoW's about.

But when I'm not sitting in Org, I've started leveling a Paladin. Level 41 right now, and really really liking the Paladin. They're a fun class, and tanking is easy as hell. But I'll leave the pally review for a later post today.

Basically I just thought i'd let you all know I'm going to try and do 1-2 posts per day from now on, reviewing all sorts of fun things!

Enjoy!

Boredom

Sorry guys, haven't posted in a while! But, I feel I have a decent excuse.

I'm bored.

Wow hasn't had any "New" content now for a bit, and the upcoming Ruby Sanctum patch doesn't interest me much. Will I be back for Cataclysm? Hell yeah. I'll be in line with the rest of you, sitting for 4 hrs to get my Collectors Edition, run home, install, and play for 100 hours straight. I'll love every second.

But until then, why play? Sure, I'm gonna try and rekindle my love for Wrath of the Lich King, but this may be one fire that has gone out for good.

Moar Money! Week 1

Week 1. It's really interesting how the first week is either the most educational, or it ends up screwing you over completely. For me it was the first, thank god.

Now lets cut to the chase: I was able to nearly quadruple my gold count, landing myself at 3061 gold. Not bad for 3 days of AH eh?

Now for my little secret: The only things I sold were vanity pets and Primordial Saronite. Obviously the Saronite is a big ticket item, as I was able to sell all 4 of my for 1.1k gold. I bought 2 of them for 900 gold. That factors out to be a 2.6k profit. As for the vanity pets, I only sold the pets easily available in Dalaran. It is truly amazing how much profit you can make off of the stupidity/laziness of other players. I made a solid 200 gold in profit from those.

Now those of you who have a keen eye are going to notice "Woh. He made a fairly decent profit this week, yet he is left with only 3k." Yup. I had a solid 5k late friday night. But saturday i blew 1k on Runecloth turn ins to finish the Ambassador achievment, and another 1k on various mounts to get to 50 mounts (Yay me.)

All in all, a 2.2k profit for the week is not bad. Obviously I have much to learn, and hey, maybe 10k by next weekend sounds good? The only thing standing in my way is the farming of a Mechano-hog.

Wish me luck!

Moar Money!

Money, who DOESN'T want more! Well after five years of being poor in the Warcraft Universe, I've decided to embark on a journey to hit the far off GOLD CAP.

Honestly, hitting the gold cap has been something I've wanted to do for years. However I simply haven't had the knowledge or resources to do so. Until Saturday. I decided I would -finally- download auctioneer and start messing around with the auction house. I made a solid 800 gold.

My starting point: 822 gold 35 silver and 16 copper.

I will -only- play the auction house on friday, saturday, and sunday, since I'd rather devote most of my play time to more entertaining endeavors. So every weekend I'll post an update with my current gold count, and how I made the money that week. I'll also post a screenshot of the excel spreadsheet I'm tracking all this in. Hopefully, by August 15th, 3 months after I started this journey, I will have come close to the gold cap. Can a casual wow player do it? We're about to find out.

Role-playing. Give it a shot!

Role-playing, one of the three main categories to choose from in Warcraft. Sadly, this is one of the less popular categories, though I’m here to tell you why I think YOU should try role-playing! The main reason why many, including myself, enjoy role-playing is because of the community. I cannot express how amazing the friendships are that you build through role-playing, both in character, and out of character. The community on a role-playing server is simply amazing. Weekly events, fun get togethers, and chances to develop your characters story, and further it.

Now, role-playing isn’t for everyone, and I respect that. BUT if you are more focused on PvP you can integrate RP into that. For example, my guild The Shadarim (Shout out!) is an RP-PvP guild, meaning that our role-playing also centers are daily PvP action with a group of alliance guilds. This makes for some interesting interaction, and it does help build our friendships and story. There’s also an abundance of RP-PvE guilds, progressing through dungeons to further their group story.

In summary, role-playing isn’t for everyone. If your more creatively inclined, you’d probably appreciate role-playing more, versus someone who enjoys bashing in skulls and slaying monsters. But hey, it can’t hurt to try something new can it? So head over to a role-playing server (Moon Guard, Wyrmrest Accord, and Farstriders are your best bets. Avoid Goldshire.) and try it out! We’d love to see you there, and the community is most welcoming! Who knows, you may make a friend or to.

Daily Thoughts: The wait

Happy cinco de Mayo to all those who give a crap! Any reason to eat mexican food is a win in my book. Anyway...

Cataclysm, coming soon to a store near you!

The problem is, WHEN is it coming? This is a fact that still remains unknown, and for guilds, this can be fatal. I have led guilds for around five years, and unfortunately I've experienced what I like to call the "dead-zone" far to often. What I call the "dead-zone" is basically the time of nothingness between expansions. The life cycle of Expansion A has come to an end, and the life cycle of Expansion B is coming soon. So what do you do?! Thats the problem. Why raid? All the gear you earn will be replaced soon enough. Sure, there are lore nerds like myself who raid to see the story unfold, though if your a hardcore raider, chances are PvE is your primary focus, RP second. Basically, most guilds cannot cope with nothingness, and they simply implode, while the stronger, more tight knit guilds will look to the future.

Fortunately, Cataclysm gives us a lot to plan for. New raid system, guild currency, guild talent trees. The ENTIRE guild system is being revamped, so a strong guild will be looking ahead, and preparing for that. So if your a guild leader or guild officer, maybe you should begin to look to the future. Think ahead. Make your guild stronger and more tight knit, so that come Cataclysm, you can conquer the new challenges and build your friendships even more.

Just my daily thoughts :)

Daily Thoughts: New Screenshot of the Day

By now, the majority of you have probably seen or heard of Blizzard's new Screenshots of the Day, and how they are all coming from Cataclysm. Personally, everyday I eagerly await the new screenshot, and thus far my favorite would have to be the Blasted Lands screenshot (image below).
I gotta say. I really do enjoy how Blizzard is doing this. Seeing a piece of the expansion early and getting to see how our beloved game is getting better and better is a real privilege. The screenshots look fantastic, the game is looking better and better, and I cannot wait for Cataclysm.

What do YOU think about the new Screenshot of the Day?

Welcome to the Quest Giver!

Hi everyone!

At this point if your reading this, you heard about it via the Warcraft forums or another forum. So I'd like to welcome you to my blog, The Quest Giver. Now here's a quick overview of what I'll discuss on this blog:

Primarily, I will focus on Warcraft. I'm an avid WoW fan and have played since launch. I'm proud to say I have never played a Night Elf Hunter, but instead play a Tauren hunter, level 80. Yes, I love the Horde but I will also discuss the Alliance perspective as I've always loved the Alliance lore etc. So if your an Alliance player, fear not! I will provide content for you!

Second, I'd also like to take a post or two a week to discuss what I'm going to label "The Geek Corner". Here I'll discuss upcoming Movies, Games, stuff a geek like myself will be looking forward to, and hopefully this can make the blog a bit more enjoyable.

Finally, a bit about me. As mentioned, I play a level 80 hunter, and a level 80 Death Knight, currently working on a Druid and Shaman. Though I've never been a huge fan of professions, I've recently jumped into those and will discuss my experience in a future post. I've played WoW since launch, and have stuck with the character I made day one. Have I had my regrets? Of course. Am I happy with where I am now? You bet.

Well now the Dungeon Finder just popped so I suppose it's time to go hit up Oculus, everyone's favorite dungeon :). I hope you'll all read this blog at one time or another, and enjoy it! I'd love feedback, which can be sent to questgiverblog@gmail.com

Happy Questing!
